One of the goals of the PAC is to help create a friendly school environment that is comfortable for both parents and children. Getting to know the parents of the school enriches the learning environment for both the parent and the child, and helps create invaluable connections with each other.

Parents play a vital role in our students’ social, emotional and academic development at Fairview. Our School Planning Council reviews our School Plan and meets four times a year to discuss budgets, goals, and school programs and services aimed at improving student learning.

Parents at Fairview volunteer regularly to support our students including weekly “Souper Wednesdays” and on numerous field trips and activities at the school. Please contact the principal, PAC chair, or your child’s teacher to find out more about volunteering.

  • Hey everyone!
By now your child(ren) should have brought home the Spring Bulb Fundraiser booklet. If not I'm sure it will be home this week!
Orders are due APRIL 5TH - so there is plenty of time for families to use spring break to get those pants sold!

As an added incentive the student who sells the most gets the opportunity to do an act of kindness towards one of our amazing staff at our school. They will get to choose someone to receive a bouquet of flowers.

With this being said- it has been brought to the PAC's attention already that people feel this isn't a PRIZE that a child would want to receive. I would like to clarify that this isn't really PRIZE. In the past the bulb fundraiser has never awarded prizes for the top seller. The top seller gets an OPPORTUNITY to pay it forward to someone who works tirelessly at our school. Which is something the staff at Fairview continue to encourage: Paying it forward and Random Acts of Kindness

It has also been brought to our attention that because the students don't receive a personal prize for their efforts in fundraising that some may not participate in the fundraiser.

I personally would like to take a minute to say that the PAC does understand that parents/guardians along with their children don't always have the time to participate in school fundraising. And that is 100% OKAY. However we would really appreciate if people could take a moment to think about how fundraising does work. Each dollar raised goes into YOUR CHILDS school. and then will eventually make it into YOUR CHILDS CLASS some way, some how for which ever reason it is needed. So for someone to decide against a fundraiser strictly based on their child not receiving a personal prize is very unfortunate for the entire school.

It also takes parent volunteers to take on fundraising projects. Their time away from work and family to dedicate running a fundraiser is hard work. They make each decision carefully to ensure it benefits the school as a whole, Please also take a moment to think about those who volunteer their time to try and make our school a better place.

I hope that I can convince people that it isn't about just winning a competition but these fundraisers (hot lunches, spring bulbs, purdys chocolates) ensure that each student is given the chance to have amazing things in their class room, go on field trips and support our teachers and staff to give our children things they may not normally have the opportunity to have. And we do need everyone's help in making those goals happen

Thanks for taking the time to read this! Please do not hesitate to message with any questions or concerns.
